Moffat Festival takes place
MOFFAT Gala’s 26th festival of running was get set, go on Tuesday night.
The annual 15 km event was won by 31-year-old John French, of Eden Runners, with a time of 53.4.
Second home was Callum Reid, a member of Haddington and East Lothian Pacemakers, in 54.27; and third place went to Dumfries Running Club’s David Parrish, 20, in 56.02. He was also the first local home.
Super veteran Jim Ferguson, 51, of Dumfries Harriers, scooped fourth place finishing in 56.51.
The first woman over the finishing line was Joasia Zakrzweski, age 35, of Dumfries Running Club, in 57.02. She was placed sixth overall.
Second woman in was Lisa Finlay, 41, also of Dumfries Running Club. Her time was 59.49 and she gained 16th place overall.
The route took the runners from the town hall up to Granton and Ericstane Farm then through the beef tub and back to town on the A701.
The evening also included junior races and the youngsters’ prizes were presented by Marvin Monkey.
Winner of the boys 5-11 age group was Ciaran Dowds who completed the course in 9.03. He was awarded the Sim Cup.
The Harriet Thomson Cup for girls 5-11 winner went to Ishbel Ingles, in 9.59.
Jamie Hunter was the overall winner of the 12-16 section and his time of 15.21 won him the Hunter Cup.
